John Edward Lovitt

John, passed away January 24, 2021 in Surprise, Arizona. He was born October 30, 1937 in Long Beach, California. He attended local schools and Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. He served in the Navel Reserve from 1955 to 1963.
In 1959 he married Elaine Hunter. For a short time they managed a cattle ranch in Southeast Arizona. They moved to Reno, Nevada where John started his career with the phone company. Son Charles was born in Reno. John lived most of his working life in Reno.
In 1984 he married Diane Schoechert Blodgett after asking her three sons for permission to marry their mother.
After retirement John and Diane enjoyed traveling in their RV, numerous cruises and a photo safari in Africa. In 2005 they settled in Sun City West, Arizona. There John enjoyed leather work, wood working and karaoke.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Aileen (Linney) Lovitt and brothers, Charles and Richard. He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Charles (Sally); granddaughters, Allie and Audri; stepsons: Michael Blodgett (Phoebe), Ronald Blodgett(Melissa), and Brian Blodgett (April); grandsons, Jackson Blodgett, Chris (Magan) and Nick East; and great-granddaughters, Shyaira and Leroya East.
John was a kind, gentle and generous man who loved and was loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
