West Valley Arts Council opened the new year with one of its key exhibitions, IMPRINT: African Americans in the Arts, featuring local artists Tiesha Harrison, Jerome Fleming, Stephen Marc, Sidney Hurd, Nik Ridley and Kesha Bruce.

These six celebrated artists, together showcase the talent, vibrancy, and collective voice of the African-American community.

This exhibit is on display at the Arts HQ Gallery, 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza, Surprise. It began with a chance to mingle with the artists at the opening reception on Jan. 14.

IMPRINT African Americans in the Arts will be open during the month of February, providing additional opportunities for the community to engage in conversation around historical and contemporary themes in African American culture.

Additionally, workshops and lectures are available during the exhibit and throughout the year to take place at the Arts HQ Gallery.

This exhibit is free and open for viewing through Feb. 25. Arts HQ is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday through Friday and 10 a..m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
