Hispanic Heritage Foundation honors Glendale students

Four Glendale high school students were honored by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation for their leadership in the classroom and community. In addition to Regional Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards, each will receive grants for their education, or to fund an idea or community project.

Hispanic Heritage Foundation honors Glendale students

Four Glendale high school students were honored by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation for their leadership in the classroom and community.

In addition to Regional Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards, each will receive grants for their education, or to fund an idea or community project.

In the Business & Finance category, honorees included Luigui Equihua (left) of Ironwood High School, 6051 W. Sweetwater Ave., and Gabriela Flores Díaz (center) of Independence High School, 6602 N. 75th Ave.

The Education category featured a gold medal for Suzzanne Bigelow (right) of Peoria High School, 11200 N. 83rd Ave. The Engineering category featured an award for Joan Serrano (picture unavailable) of Ironwood High School.

Additional partners of the Youth Awards include American Federation of Teachers, Capital Wire, Crowell & Moring, Es Tiempo, Freddie Mac, Indie Desk, Mastercard, Pepco Holdings, and Teach for America.
