Posted

Frank Joseph Leben, 87, and Jeanne Loretta Leben, 84, both of Sun City, Arizona, passed away on March 16, 2021. The two were married for 66 years.
Frank was born February 1, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduation from high school in 1951, he went on to begin a long and varied career as a printer at R. R. Donnelley and Sons in Chicago, IL where he remained until his retirement in 1991.
Frank met and married Jeanne in 1954 and together they had 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Frank enjoyed coaching his boys in Little League as he watched them grow up. The family often went on camping trips for vacation where all the kids learned how to camp and fish. He also found time to bowl in leagues and tournaments throughout the Tri-State area. Frank was an avid chess player and often hosted friends to play at his home. He played competitively in tournaments as well and continued to play throughout his lifetime. Frank loved to play racquetball and he was able to continue to play well into his 80’s. He excelled and won many tournaments, brought home countless medals and trophies, and even played in the Senior Olympics!
Jeanne was born October 26, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. After high school graduation she met, fell in love with, and married Frank. Jeanne and Frank wasted no time in starting a family bringing 6 children into the world and raising them together in the suburbs of Chicago.
Jeanne enjoyed several careers in her lifetime, going from being an operator for Illinois Bell to selling and schooling customers on their new sewing machines. She returned to school herself and became a licensed hairdresser, even setting up her own shop in the basement of her home. Later in life, Jeanne returned to school yet again to become a Certified Nursing Assistant where she excelled in caring for her elderly neighbors. Jeanne retired from her CNA career in 2008. Jeanne was a Den Mother for her young sons in Cub Scouts. She also bowled with her husband in local leagues as well as tournaments throughout the Tri-State area. Like her husband, Jeanne enjoyed playing racquetball; playing in many tournaments, she brought home numerous medals and trophies. Jeanne played racquetball into her 70’s and she was also a Senior Olympian!
After 40 years residing in the Chicagoland area the couple moved to Sun City, Arizona in August of 1994.
Frank and Jeanne loved to travel, spending several weeks to a month in Mexico every year. Later they found they loved to cruise and managed to go on no less than 32 cruises together. It was during these cruises where they found an interest and love for collecting artwork.
Frank and Jeanne are survived by their 6 children: Frank Jr. of Blackshear, GA, Michael of Thousand Oaks, CA, Pamela of Grand Prairie, TX, Beverly of Grand Prairie, TX, Anthony of Sunrise Beach, MO, and Roberta of Sun City, AZ. Frank and Jeanne had 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and countless cousins, nieces and nephews. Frank is survived by his brother John Leben of Saugatuck, MI and Jeanne is survived by her sister Annette Palilonis of DeMotte, IN.
There will be a Celebration of Life on October 23, 2021 beginning at 1pm at 12410 Amethyst Court Sun City, AZ 85351.
