In light of Gov. Doug Ducey’s Executive Order announced Thursday, the Recreation Centers of Sun City West will no longer enforce Maricopa County’s mask mandate, effective Friday, March 26.

The Rec Centers continues to recommend residents and employees wear masks and practice social distancing. However, face masks will not be mandated. Plexiglas and sanitizing stations will remain in place.

Gov. Ducey’s latest order, signed March 24, lifts all his previous COVID-related Executive Orders. It also says counties, towns and cities can no longer enforce COVID policies including requirements to wear face coverings, except in the case of governmental buildings and public transportation.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services COVID dashboard, nearly 72% of residents in the Sun City West ZIP code have been vaccinated. Additionally, vaccines are now available at state-run sites for anyone 16 and older.
