The Florence Fire & Medical Department will be holding a live fire demonstration as part of its annual open house event.

The demonstration is aimed at educating the public on how a room can be quickly engulfed by fire, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

The open house runs from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at Florence Fire Station No. 2, 2035 N. Hunt Highway.

Along with the fire demonstration, attendees at the free open house can tour the fire station and learn how firefighters live, eat, train, assist the community and respond to emergencies.

Guests can also get a close look at the department’s newest fire trucks. Kids can try out the mini-firefighter obstacle course and spray water.

Free popcorn and snow cones will be available.
