Posted

Senior night on Oct. 25 was an ideal evening to watch the Dysart Demons football team finish off its home season with a win against the Cortez Colts.

The Demons ended up winning the game 55-12.

Dysart started off in the first quarter with a 21-0 lead. Going into the half Dysart led by 41.

Junior Bobby Gardea ran for a 48-yard touchdown on his only carry. Freshman Prince Zombo exceeded that effort, running for a 68-yard score on his only carry.

Sophomore quarterback Alex Moreno threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more. Senior linebacker Joseph Schindewolf ran in a short yardage score.

And 400-pound nose guard Israel Nolasco thrilled the crowd by rumbling in for a one-yard touchdown.

The Demons are 1-8 this season. This year was a season of rebuilding for a young team.

Cortez drops to 0-9 on the season

At the last home game, Dysart High acknowledged all of the senior football players, including Anthony Aguilar, Israel Nolasco, Joseph Schindewolf, Michael Lucero and Christopher Alexander.

The senior pom and cheer teams were recognized as well: Benita Flores, Mikayla Swain, Gabriela Grijalva, Sammy Ybarra, Amber Watson, and Bailey Blandford.

Dysart had a few early injuries in the season. The Demons are preparing to play Glendale for their final game on Nov. 1.
