First Peoria City Council meeting of the New Year hits Jan. 4

Council to consider budget amendment for 36 new employees at $3.4M

The city of Peoria will have it's first council meeting of the New Year, Jan. 4.

The regular meeting at 6 p.m. will be preceeded by an executive session and study session, 4 p.m.

Being the first meeting of the new year, the council will discuss and take possible action to elect Vice Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem.

The vice mayor performs the duties of the mayor during her absence or disability.

The mayor pro tem performs the duties of the mayor in the absence or disability of both the mayor and vice mayor.

There will be a public hearing about the proposed annexation of Rovey Farms, near 83rd and Northern avenues. No council action will be taken on this item.

The council will also consider a mid-year budget amendment of $3.4 million to add 36 new full time equivalent employees.

This will include 15 new firefighters, 15 police officers, three employees for the development and engineering department, two employees in the water services department and one in the finance department.
