Fountain Hills Theater presents Fully Committed, which opens Jan 3, starring Patrick Walsh as Sam.
Mr. Walsh, the Southwest Shakespeare Company associate artistic director is also director of Mesa Public Schools arts education. He has a master’s of fine arts from the University of Arizona in theatre direction and a bachelor’s of arts in theatre education from Arizona State University.
Produced by Meghan Ramos, and directed Peter J. Hill, Fully Committed is presented through special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service, according to a press release.
The “one-man tour de force,” is a comedy about Sam, a struggling actor, earning a living taking reservations for one of Manhattan’s high-end food temples, once known as restaurants.
Answering with “not one or two but three different phones,” he voices more than 40 characters, according to the release, adding that among the many voices is the harried but even-tempered central character, Sam. A cast of desperate callers stop at nothing in their zeal to land a prime reservation, or the right table.
While “juggling scheming socialites, name-dropping wannabes, fickle celebrities and egomaniacal bosses,” as the aspiring New York actor works the phone bank on his own, he also has to deal with a narcissistic chef and other “self-important superiors quick to take advantage” of hm, the release described.
Fully Committed will play Jan 3 - 19, 2020 with performances at 7:30 p.m., Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays at Fountain Hills Theater on its Mainstage Too, 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd.
Individual tickets are $33 for adults and $18 for youth 17 and under. Seniors receive a $5 discount on all Thursday performances. Group rate discounts are available. Veteran and active duty discounts.
Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at 480-837-9661 ext. 3 or visit fhtaz.org.
