Spending a year closer to homemade it easier than ever to appreciate throwback entertainment like backyard games, the sweet pleasure of a frozen popsicle, or a refreshing icy cold brew. Even so, for many people, the pull to mix, mingle, and get back into the community is strong.

Every Saturday now through Sept. 11, the Downtown Tempe Authority is making it easy to enjoy the best of both worlds with the launch of Park After Dark, a Saturday event series that blends classic homestyle pleasures with music, food, and drinks a laid-back evening out the whole family can enjoy.

Taking place at 6th Street Park, the event is nestled under plenty of shade trees for a quick cool-down as the blazing day fades to dusk. Festive park lights set the mood for each fun-filled evening, with live entertainment rotating each week to reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Tempe.

Pedal Haus Brewery is on-site each week hosting a beer and wine garden with beverages for purchase, and several restaurants nearby offer takeout to enjoy in the park.

With its central location, vibrant character, and plenty of heritage to celebrate, Downtown Tempe is a preeminent Valley gathering spot. Park After Dark series gives residents Valley-wide a reason to get out and rediscover their favorite spots, including Downtown Tempe and all it has to offer.

“We are proud to launch an event at a time when the community needs shared connections and experiences,” said Kate Borders, executive director of the Downtown Tempe Authority. “This event series activates the heart of Tempe by bringing people together, stimulating business for local merchants, and showcasing Downtown Tempe as a vibrant and creative destination.”
