The West Valley Preps football player on the week vote moved over to our new site and it took voters a week to catch on.

Cactus senior quarterback Conner Cordts comfortably won the Week 6 vote, for games played Sept. 27, with 190 of 297 total votes cast.

He completed 9 of 22 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 90 yards and three more touchdowns in the Cobras' 53-0 rout of Buckeye Youngker.

Sunrise Mountain senior receiver Nate Duran finished second with 40 votes. He had 6 catches for 167 yards and three touchdowns in the Mustangs' 41-6 rout at Buckeye Verrado.

Ironwood junior quarterback William Haskell placed third with 20 votes.

In the Eagles' 41-10 pasting of Willow Canyon, Haskell rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. He also completed 6 of 14 passes for 96 yards and two more scores.

By the Week 7 vote, fans were out in numbers rarely seen by West Valley Preps. A total of 9,177 votes were cast by midnight Oct. 21.

Fans of two schools, Glendale Prep and Millennium, drove the vote totals. And when the dust settled, Millennium senior linebacker Jamarlo Campbell edged Glendale Prep junior receiver/linebacker Malachi Mizysak by a margin of 4,364 votes to 3,982 votes

Campbell finished with 15 tackles, two forced fumble and a, 2-point conversion reception in the Tigers 50-6 trouncing of Goldwater.

In the Griffins' 21-14 win over Camp Verde, Mizysak scored on all three of his receptions for 102 total yards and also made seven tackles.

Willow Canyon sophomore receiver Daunte Williams was a distant third with 296 votes. He had 7 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown in the Wildcats 42-7 victory against Independence.

For the fourth straight year, player of the week honorees, including Cordts and Campbell will win more than bragging rights.
