Comment period for Smith Road improvements ends May 31

Tempe residents interested in telling city officials what they would like included in Smith Road improvements have until May 31 to comment.
The city plans to improve access for pedestrians and bicyclists along Smith Road between Apache Boulevard and University Drive.
Recommendations will include improvements to enhance visibility and bicycle and pedestrian safety, including pavement markings and signs for bike lanes, sidewalks, bus shelters , ADA ramps/driveway improvements, landscaping and lighting, according to the city.
The project will link to an existing project planned along Smith Road between University Drive and Rio Salado Parkway.
Comment online through May 31 at tempe.gov/forum.
The draft Smith Design Guidelines is scheduled to go to the City Council on June 23 for possible approval.
