Comedy legend Jimmie Walker on his way to Glendale

Stir Crazy series brings 70s icon to the local stage

Posted

Jimmie Walker is heading to Glendale as part of Stir Crazy Comedy Club’s Legends of Stand Up Series.

The comedy icon will take the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17 in the club located at Westgate, 6751 N. Sunset Blvd., Suite E-206.

Rising from the streets of New York’s ghettos to television superstardom, Walker hit the entertainment heights when his catch phrase “Dyn-o-mite!” from the classic TV show “Good Times” became part of the modern vernacular. In the 1970s Time Magazine named him “Comedian of the Decade.”

He also landed choice roles in films like “Airplane!” and “Airport ’79” and was a regular on television shows like “The Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island.” In recent years he’s made appearances on “The George Lopez Show,” “Everybody Hates Chris” with Chris Rock, and “Scrubs.”

Tickets are $25 and are available at stircrazycomedyclub.com.
