On Dec. 13, the Scottsdale Civil War Round Table will host Civil War author and historian Jeffrey William Hunt, who will discuss “Mead and Lee After Gettysburg: Climax of the Gettysburg Campaign.”

According to a press release, Hunt is the director of the Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas, and an adjunct professor of history at Austin Community College, where he has taught since 1988.

Previously Hunt was the curator of collections and director of the living history program at the Admiral Nimitz National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

In 2013, Hunt was appointed an honorary admiral in the Texas Navy by Gov. Rick Perry, in recognition of his efforts to tell the story of the Texas Navy during the period of the Texas Revolution and Republic, the release noted.

A veteran re-enactor with 35 years of experience conducting, he has participated in a wide variety of events ranging from the War of 1812 through the Vietnam War.

Hunt is the author of several books on the Civil War including “Meade and Lee After Gettysburg: The Forgotten Final Stage of the Gettysburg Campaign,” “Meade and Lee at Bristoe Station: The Problems of Command and Strategy” and “Meade and Lee at Rappahannock Station.”

His writings have received several awards, according to the release. He is also a contributor to the “Revised Handbook of Texas” and North & South Magazine.

Hunt’s lecture will begin at 5 p.m. in the Copper Auditorium located on the lower level of the Civic Center branch of the Scottsdale Public Library, 3839 N Drinkwater Blvd.
