Charity golf tournament benefits Patriot Golf Foundation, veterans

Perfect ProAms, a successful golf tournament company that was founded in Arizona, has partnered with the Patriot Golf Foundation, an Arizona-based 501(c)(3), to host a charity event on May 16-18, at the Camelback Golf Club in Paradise Valley.

Proceeds from the event will be shared with military veterans and their families, according to a press release.

“While the pandemic has been tough for all of us, many veterans are struggling to feel connected while dealing with isolation,” said Micah Burke, founder of Perfect ProAms.

“Golf is proven to help veterans in their rehabilitation of PTSD, physical, social, and emotional disorders as the result of their service. We are proud to work with the Patriot Golf Foundation in their support to improve our veteran communities by shaping lives, changing lives, and even saving lives through ‘the healing power of golf.”

The two-day tournament and half day golf school will include a Patriot Golf School on Sunday, May 16. The golf school will cover all aspects of the golf swing from tee-to-green as a tune-up for the tournament or to just improve one’s game, the press release stated.

The small student-to-instructor ratio will ensure each player gets the individual attention their game needs. Veterans will be invited to participate in the school, at no cost to the veteran, as part of the foundations’ mission to share access to the game of golf.

Following the golf school will be the opening tournament reception that will serve as kick-off for the Perfect ProAms Charity Tournament. Bob Dalpe, USAF Ret. and Operations Director for NASVU, will speak about their mission to assist the military veterans and their families living on the Navajo Nation.

This is an organization both Mr. Burke and the foundation have supported with donations of desperately needed PPE. In addition to Mr. Dalpe, there will be several veteran adaptive golfers that will share their post-service experience and how the game of golf has positively impacted their lives — and the lives of their fellow veterans.

The two-day golf tournament follows on Monday, May 17 and Tuesday, May 18. Teams of four will tee-off at 8 a.m. and play a Best Ball format, first on the Ambiente Course and then the Padre Course on day two.

Lunch will be provided after each round with the tournament awards on the Tuesday, May 18. The tournament and on-course contest winners will be announced and, of course, all wagers will be settled.

You can register for the tournament and learn more about the event by visiting www.patriotgolffoundation.com There are also various event sponsorships available including options to “Sponsor a Veteran” so our deserving service members are provided the opportunity to participate alongside our generous players and sponsors.
