Barlett: Picket for public transportation in Apache Junction June 15

Posted

The city of Apache Junction will be holding a regular City Council meeting at 7 p.m. June 15 at 300 E. Superstition Blvd. What we plan to do is hold up picket signs to help spread awareness on the need for public transportation.

You can get poster boards and markers at your local dollar store and supermarkets.

Please obey all the laws and be peaceful.

People are also able to speak at City Council meetings during a call to the public held at the end of the meeting, All you need to do is fill out a form and turn it into the city clerk before the city manager’s report, Please be aware that call to the public is a courtesy and personal attacks are not allowed.

Please be peaceful. I would encourage people to spread out around the city, don’t form large groups, stay at least 6 feet away from each other, stay on public sidewalks, stay off of private property unless you have permission from the property owner, don’t interfere with the flow of traffic, don’t harass people, don’t argue with people, and don’t break the law.

If people start intimidating just wave the peace sign with your hand and tell them “God bless” and just ignore them, There is no need to get into a confrontation with the opposition. It is not worth it. If you do anything violent or illegal, I will not defend you and I will side with law enforcement on this.

Editor’s note: Jeff Barlett is a resident of Apache Junction. He set up the rally as an event on Facebook at facebook.com/events/819384048701070.
