ASU Prep Digital will hold a drive-thru graduation ceremony this Friday and Saturday in substitution of normal graduation festivities.

A High School graduation is typically a rather traditional event. However, due to the unforeseen circumstances of a COVID-19 plagued year, high schools such as ASU Prep are forced to be creative in their graduation ceremonies.

For this event more than 130 graduates will be showcasing their school spirit while driving in a decorated car filled with family and friends to help celebrate the moment. Graduates will then exit vehicles one at a time to cross an outdoor stage and accept their diplomas.

The unconventional approach is nothing new for this graduating class; ASU Prep Digital’s online model is a way of life for students who chose online as their preferred learning format long before the pandemic forced others to do the same.

ASU Prep will also be accomplishing a milestone as it graduates its first group of the first four-year cohort of high school students who started as freshman at the school.

Despite never sharing an in-person class together, this group has become a close-knit crew, connected by life’s ups and downs, along with a passion for learning and ambition for higher education.

Time slots are scheduled throughout each day on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The ceremony will be held at Arizona State University – lot 59, 200 S. Packard Dr., Tempe, AZ 85281.

Attendees will enter the lot from the South Packard Drive just North of East Sixth Street.
