Arizona has added 1,213 cases and 56 deaths of COVID-19 overnight, according to the state Department of Health Services.

As of the morning of Saturday, Aug. 8, the ADHS reports 186,107 to 186,266 positive cases and 4,137 deaths of the new coronavirus.

First the ADHS dashboard stated the number of cases was 186,107, but that was not accurate, according to a note at the top of the website. It stated, “COVID-19 Data: The total number of cases in Arizona is 186,266. We are addressing technical issues with the Data Dashboard, which is not showing complete data for 8/8/2020. We apologize for this error and are working to correct it.” Later the below note was removed but still had 186,107 listed.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
