Arizona DPS trooper shot, wounded in north Phoenix

PHOENIX  — An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper is in stable condition after being shot Thursday in north Phoenix.

The trooper was struck by gunfire north of the Loop 101 freeway around 12:45 p.m. May 25, according to DPS. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment. 

The Department of Public Safety officials didn’t say what led to the shooting or whether they had identified a suspect.

The Phoenix Police Department is conducting the criminal investigation, according to DPS.
