AJ City Council meeting behind closed doors May 28-29, June 1

Discussion on the recruitment of a presiding city magistrate is a topic on the Apache Junction City Council’s May 28-29 and June 1 closed-door executive sessions. The council is also to discuss pre-annexation agreements for auctioned state land on June 1.

The City Council is to meet in executive session, which is not open to the public, at 8 a.m. May 28 and 29 and 6 p.m. June 1 in the City Council Conference Room, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.

The agendas for May 28-29 and June 1 include:

  • Discussion and employment consideration relating to the recruitment, interviewing and appointment process for the position of the presiding city magistrate and potential employment contract negotiations.


June 1 only, the agenda also includes:

  • Discussion or consultation with the city attorney in order to consider the city’s rights and obligations in the procedural pre-annexation agreements between the city, the Arizona State Land Department and developer D.R. Horton Inc. relating to approximately 8,500 acres of Arizona State Land located roughly north of the State Route 24 alignment, east of Meridian Drive, south of U.S. Highway 60 and west of the Central Arizona Project canal.
