Weekend marathon takes runners through Tempe, Scottsdale, Phoenix

The 2023 Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Arizona has reached the starting line.
Runners will be on the course Saturday and Sunday for the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, but the event kicked off Friday, Jan. 13, with the Health and Fitness Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center.
The expo features the latest products and trends in the running industry and began on the eve of the event that has brought runners and walkers from around the world to Arizona who will participate Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 14-15, on a course that covers parts of Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix.
Here is the weekend schedule:
Saturday – Race Day
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Health & Fitness Expo, Phoenix Convention Center
8 a.m. – 5K – Tempe Beach Park, 80 West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe
10 a.m. – KiDS ROCK – Tempe Beach Park
Sunday – Race Day
7:20 a.m. – 10K – Fulton Center on ASU campus - 300 E. University Drive, Tempe
7:50 a.m. – Half Marathon & Marathon– Fulton Center
8:30 a.m. – Encore Entertainment – Soulitify at Tempe Beach Park. Free public event
11:45 a.m. – Encore Entertainment – Bruce in the USA at Tempe Beach Park
Course:
Saturday’s 5K will begin at Tempe Beach Park, and Sunday’s 10K, half marathon and marathon will start at Fulton Center on the ASU campus.
Participants will run through the red rocks of Papago Park and take in the local art and sights of Tempe, Phoeni, and Scottsdale before ending at the Finish Line Festival at Tempe Beach Park. For full course details, visit Course Overviews.
