View rocker Alice Cooper’s prized Andy Warhol ‘Little Electric Chair’ at Larsen Gallery, June 24

For the first time in Scottsdale since consigning rock star Alice Cooper’s multimillion-dollar Andy Warhol, the public has an opportunity to view the famous piece of art.

The acrylic and silkscreen ink on canvas, “Little Electric Chair” will be available for viewers from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m on Thursday, June 24, at Larsen Gallery, according to a press release.

Cooper’s Warhol will be on display at Larsen Gallery during the Thursday ArtWalk. Guests attending are welcome to a reception and an exclusive performance by indie/folk singer-songwriter Sophie Dorsten from Cooper’s Solid Rock Foundation.

Larsen Gallery owners Scott and Polly Larsen will donate a portion of its commission to Cooper’s nonprofit Solid Rock Foundation, which offers support and community to local Arizona teenagers, the release said.

The artwork, which is expected to fetch between $2.5 million and $4.5 million, could become Arizona’s highest selling artwork when auctioned off to the highest bidder at the 2021 Fall Larsen Art Auction on Oct. 23.

“I was never a Warhol collector,” said Cooper in a prepared statement. “When I collect, I like to collect a lot of pieces and I’m not going to get any more Warhols. Somebody is probably looking for this electric chair and I have it.”

Cooper, the release said, chose Larsen Gallery in Scottsdale to sell his prized Andy Warhol “after he famously re-discovered the work stored in his garage.” The special public display will not only include the painting but photos of the rocker and artist, according to the release.

Scott and Polly Larsen, owners of the Larsen Gallery will be at the gallery and  answer questions, talk about the artwork, and register potential bidders for the Oct. 23 auction.

“We are excited to share this important Andy Warhol with the city of Scottsdale during the Thursday ArtWalk,” said Scott Larsen in a prepared statement. “Alice wanted to be sure to give the public the opportunity to see the work in person before it is sold. Maybe we can even find local Alice Cooper fans to be bidders this fall.”

The Larsen Art Auctions is noted to have historically sold greater than 90% of lots offered with registered bidders from every state and more than 40 different countries.
