Victoria’s Secret PINK donates $100K to Scottsdale Equine Therapy Farm

Hunkapi Programs, an equine therapy farm in Scottsdale, announces it will receive $100,000 from Victoria’s Secret PINK on Dec. 21, as part of the company’s goal to give back to organizations supporting mental health in young adults.

In December, PINK has made every Tuesday a Giving Tuesday by donating $100,000 to four different non-profits as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering positive mental health, according to a press release.

“While the holidays are a time to celebrate and spread cheer, we recognize they can also be overwhelming, so it’s important to practice self-care and seek out organizations and resources for support,” said Elizabeth Hagey, PINK associate vice president of marketing, in the release.

“We’re honored to make this donation to Hunkapi to further their amazing work, and to continue our brand mission of fostering positive mental health amongst young adults.”

The nonprofit offers various services including therapeutic riding, counseling, emotional regulation, team building, addiction recovery and more, the release said.

Clients in Hunkapi’s programs include those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, emotional disorder, addiction disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

“Young adults and teenagers are a large portion of the population that we work with,” said Hunkapi Executive Director Terra Schaad in the release.

“Every day, the farm’s herd of four-legged healers use their instincts to give patients feedback on their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while therapists help to interpret and strategize. This generous donation allows us to give the horses the best care possible so that they can continue to help our clients.”

The equine therapy program at Hunkapi focuses on building healthy relationships and connecting with others, regulating emotional and mental responses, identifying a patient’s strengths, and teaching them to be more intentional in how they interact with the world around them.
