Valley’s longtime Hinkley’s Lighting announces move to Scottsdale

Posted

About 70 years ago, Hinkley’s Lighting, 4620 N. Central Ave., first turned on the lights at its Phoenix store and this fall the Valley-based and family-owned business will close that location to move operations to Scottsdale.

The bigger warehouse and showroom, according to a press release, is at 16049 N. Greenway Hayden Loop in Scottsdale.

The longtime company that has been a community fixture for decades, started helping customers in 1910 and has helped hundreds of thousands of Phoenicians light their homes and yards since, before moving and expanding to a bigger, updated facility.

“We have had a fantastic journey here in this Phoenix building for the last 70 years, but it’s time to expand and move everything under one roof in a bigger and more sophisticated space,” said Michael Jackson, Hinkley’s Lighting owner in a prepared statement.

“The last few years have been very good ones for us and now we are ready to offer our longtime customers and friends a really cool space and experience at our newly expanded Scottsdale location.”

To celebrate the move, Hinkley’s Lighting will offer its longtime and new customers a “fun progressive sale with a portion of the sales going to benefit one of their favorite causes,” the release said.

Hinkley’s Lighting will donate 10% of all retail sales of in-stock merchandise from the Phoenix showroom to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Longtime Hinkley’s Lighting owners Michael and Karen Jackson wanted to give back to the organization that has helped their family in a time of need, the release said.

In July, customers shopping at the Phoenix location will receive 50-percent off all lighting fixtures, excluding antiques and fans. The number increases to 60-percent in August and then in September will be 70-percent savings.

In the final days, Hinkley’s Lighting will also host a Black Tag Sale Party with 100% of the proceeds going to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, which is noted as one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country with more than 75 pediatric specialties, the release added.
