SUSD provides lunches at Bethany Lutheran Church this summer

Posted

Bethany Lutheran Church of Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Unified School District will be collaborating to offer lunch daily, Monday through Friday for children aged 18 and younger.

The program will start May 30 and run through August 2. SUSD will be providing all of the food and delivering it to Bethany, according to a press release.

Lunches will be served 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Zoellner Hall at Bethany, which includes a space for the children to eat and play.

At Bethany, one of their guiding principles is to serve others as they respond to the needs of the church community, local community and world community, the release stated. In 2023, Bethany is focused on serving and becoming a well-known presence within their own community.

Volunteers are needed. Members of Bethany are already signing up to donate time and members of the community are also encouraged and welcome to donate their time. The program requires at least 2 to 3 volunteers daily. SUSD will be providing training on Monday, May 22 at 10 a.m.

Contact Pastor Sandy Jones at 480-947-5525 to volunteer and provide availability.
