Summer campers at Camelback Desert School in Scottsdale, 9606 E. Kalil Drive, recently donated more than 700 bottles of water to Phoenix Rescue Mission, a local organization that provides support for men, women and children in the community struggling with homelessness, addiction and trauma.
Students collected water bottles for the organization’s Code Red Summer Heat Relief program, which helps provide water, sun protection and hygiene kits to people experiencing homelessness during the summer heat in Arizona.
Camelback Desert School instills a sense of social responsibility at an early age by implementing opportunities for students to learn about the importance of giving back to their communities and helping others in need, according to a press release.
Its signature Links to Learning preschool curriculum emphasizes social-emotional learning as a steppingstone for kindergarten and beyond, working with children to help recognize and label emotions in themselves and others, while learning how they fit into their community and the larger world.
