Storms bring down power lines, force water rescue in Scottsdale

Storms in Scottsdale on Friday brought down power lines, trapped motorists and required a helicopter water rescue of a woman stranded on a wall in a park.
Power lines came down across Scottsdale Road north of Cactus during the storm, closing the road in both directions, according to the Scottsdale Fire Department.
Eighteen vehicles were trapped. Their occupants were removed safely by firefighters after the area was secured, fire officials said.
Two people were treated but declined transportation to a hospital.
Meantime, a helicopter was used to rescue woman stranded on a wall in the middle of Scottsdale Indian Bend Wash, authorities said. She was not injured.
Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale and Phoenix technical rescue teams assisted.
Approximately 0.31 inches rain fell in parts of Scottsdale on Friday.
