Entrepreneur and Northern Arizona University alumna Lori Anna Harrison will host a spring fashion show for her alma mater at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 11, at DLP Marketing offices, 1525 N. Granite Reef Road, Suite 5, in Scottsdale.
The event benefits a fund created by Ms. Harrison to help institute new programming and curriculum at NAU’s School of Communication, according to a press release.
The family-friendly celebration focuses on community, creativity and fun with entertainment including a fashion show, putt-putt golf, a silent auction and an Easter Egg hunt, the release said.
Proceeds will go toward creating new digital marketing curriculum at the university, giving students a well-rounded skillset combining creativity and analytical proficiency in digital media.
Also, the event serves as a hands-on learning opportunity for student volunteers filling the roles of runway models, hair and makeup artists, and fundraisers responsible for sponsorship and social media planning.
For their efforts, students will receive a Certificate of Marketing Production from DLP, the release said.
As a businesswoman and fashion advocate, Ms. Harrison is said to see the event as the “perfect occasion to combine her greatest passions,” according to the release.
She is described as a premiere brand ambassador for upscale clothing rental service Rent the Runway who recently added personal brand and image consulting to the list of offerings at her all-inclusive marketing firm.
Her commitment to higher education and helping others are said to be “equally important on Harrison’s personal path to excellence,” stated the release, detailing her upcoming book, “One Degree of Separation,” reflecting on her life’s experiences and other successful business leaders.
She notes “how extraordinary lives are often shaped by the pursuit of one’s passion, higher education and philanthropy,” according to the release, adding that her book tour commences this spring in Egypt and Turkey.
“I care deeply about NAU and the success of students. Our goal is to provide valuable knowledge and experience that helps them embrace a life spent in pursuit of their passions,” said Ms. Harrison in a prepared statement.
Ms. Harrison hopes to inspire others through this spring fashion show celebration, the release noted.
