Shop It Forward beneficiaries receive donations Jan. 13

Posted

After months of shopping for a good cause at Scottsdale Fashion Square, the receipts have been tallied and the beneficiaries of this year’s Shop it Forward program received notice on Jan. 13 of the shoppers’ impact.

A combined $25,000 in awards was presented to six Valley nonprofit organizations during a special celebratory event at Zinque at Scottsdale Fashion Square that started at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, a press release explained.

Running from mid-October through mid-December each year, the Shop It Forward program allows nonprofits to earn points from qualified purchases based on their final points ranking among other participating nonprofits. The final awards range from $1,000 to $10,000.

Throughout this holiday season, customers shopped, dined and enjoyed entertainment at Scottsdale Fashion Square, then submitted their receipts to earn points for the nonprofit of their choice.

Below are the beneficiaries of the 2022 Shop It Forward program, who learned their rank and corresponding donation amount during the event:

  • The Be Kind People Project initiates positive change in the overall learning environment and provides relevant learning and youth development opportunities to inspire humanity, academic achievement and healthy living for students.
  • The Board of Visitors Care Card is a special effort by the Board of Visitors to raise and grant funds to deserving nonprofit agencies that serve the healthcare needs of women, children and the elderly. This year’s recipient is the Foundation for Blind Children.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale serves thousands of youth at nine locations within the Greater Scottsdale Community, bringing youth development professionals and mentors to provide guidance, support and encouragement in a safe environment.
  • Off The Field NFL Wives Association has a mission to unite and empower members to perform and support philanthropic initiatives, including the Caris Sports Foundation, which removes financial obstacles that keep youth on the sidelines of organized sports.
  • Phoenix Pride unites, educates and engages people to support and empower the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Funds raised help support The Phoenix Pride Community Foundation, which funds Scholarship, Community Grants and Partnership programs.
  • Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre is an award-winning, non-profit performing arts theatre offering vibrant stage productions; opportunities for actors to learn, grow and thrive; reasonable ticket prices and free tickets for those in need.

“Shop It Forward is an integral part of our holiday celebration each year at Scottsdale Fashion Square,” said Melanie Sutton, senior marketing manager of the shopping center, in the release. “We’re proud to offer shoppers a convenient way to spread good cheer to deserving nonprofit organizations while purchasing gifts during the holiday season.”

Awards were presented during a special event from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Zinque at Scottsdale Fashion Square, 4712 N. Goldwater Blvd., Suite 110.
