Scottsdale’s Mueller receives Desert Financial Foundation Scholarship
Desert Financial Foundation awards more than $140K in college scholarships

Lilian Rose Mueller, of Scottsdale, received a $7,500 community service scholarship from Desert Financial Foundation.
The foundation awarded more than $140,000 in college scholarships to 55 Arizona high school seniors and adult learners, according to a press release.
Mueller, who graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory High School, plans to attend Grand Canyon University in the fall. She joined recipients who celebrated their awards during the 2022 Desert Financial Foundation Scholarship Ceremony at the Phoenix Zoo in May.
In addition to the scholarships that ranged from $2,000 to $10,000, each recipient received a backpack of gifts from the credit union to prepare them for their higher education experience. Each backpack included an iPad, an iPad case, AirPods and additional school supplies, the release stated.
Twenty-five high school seniors were awarded a total of $77,500 in Community Service Scholarships. More than 153 students applied for the scholarships, which ranged in value from $2,500 to $10,000 each.
Requirements for the scholarship included:
Completion of at least 50 hours of community service during 2021
A minimum grade point average of 3.0
A plan to attend an in-state college or university in Arizona in the Fall of 2022
Demonstrated financial need
Must be a Desert Financial Credit Union member or related to a Desert Financial member.
