Scottsdale Unified School District officials have announced that all schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, for a minimum for two weeks as precautions to prevent wide-spread COVID-19 contamination are being taken across the city.
An online instruction model for students will begin Monday, March 23.
The decision was made to close the schools on after closely monitoring the recent developments in the community and a national emergency being declared.
“Several factors led to the decision to close our schools,” Superintendent Dr. John Kriekard said in a prepared statement. “Despite having taken all of the recommended precautions to protect students and staff, it became apparent today, after meeting with our principals and receiving valuable input from the community, that closing is the overwhelming choice of our stakeholder groups.”
