Scottsdale schools earn 'prestigious' title after 3 years of teachers' work

Laguna and Navajo elementary schools have been designated Cognia STEM Certified Schools.

According to the Scottsdale Unified School District, the  “very prestigious title” was earned after educators spent three years “engaged in hours of STEM-focused professional development to expand their teaching practices to create engaging student STEM-focused learning.”

STEM-based education teaches science and math with a focus on hands-on, real-world applications to give students the knowledge, skill sets and creativity necessary in the 21st century.

Cognia’s mission is “to serve as a trusted partner in advancing learning” and its vision is “to impact and inspire education providers to advance and enable pathways of success for all learners.”

The organization states that it has served education institutions and students since 1895.

“Our focus is firmly on today and tomorrow – seeking what works in your schools and others around the world.”
