Scottsdale trainer earns Golf Digest recognition

Golf Digest recently recognized Scottsdale-based fitness trainer Spencer Tatum as one of the top 50 best golf-fitness professionals in the country for 2020.

The publication’s annual list is made up of the country’s most accomplished fitness trainers who help golfers play better, feel better and avoid injuries, according to a press release.

“It’s an honor to be recognized among an outstanding group of fitness professionals who are dedicated to helping golfers be the best they can be,” Mr. Tatum said in a prepared statement. “The work I do with golfers is about more than improving their physical ability, it’s about igniting their passion for the sport.”

Golf Digest’s expert panel of trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists and doctors compile the annual list, nominating individuals based on their knowledge of the game; exercise physiology and biomechanics; and how they apply both in working with clients.

Mr. Tatum is the founder and performance director of Ignite THP, an individualized training company for clients and coaches.

He created THP to deliver a fitness or sports training solution specific to each person’s goals while hoping to understand the human body, movement, fitness and sport performance. This led to his development of a unique niche in the sports world, especially in golf.

As a leader and innovator in the field, Mr. Tatum has taken his approach to clients at all physical levels, from youth to elite athletes, a release states.
He works with the Arizona State University golf teams, as well as some of the best golfers in the world including PGA tour players Jon Rahm and Wyndham Clark, as well as LPGA player Anna Nordqvist.

THP attempts to connect the dots between health, fitness and performance by delivering an individualized workout and wellness plan tailored to each athlete’s abilities, needs and goals. The THP system is designed to work for individuals of all abilities and in all environments.
