Scottsdale Society of Women Writers welcomes Anne Montgomery

Anne Montgomery will be the speaker at the November 30 meeting of the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers.

Montgomery, the author of six published novels, will discuss how she lost her job in television, had way too much free time on her hands, and started her first novel as a form of therapy. She knew nothing about authoring books or the publishing industry, a business that has morphed into an ever-changing creature since the advent of Amazon and the Internet. She’s made mistakes, been disappointed, but moved forward by appreciating small victories.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Panera Bread at Gainey Village, 8777 N. Scottsdale Road, suite 302, Scottsdale. Check in begins at 5:15 p.m.

The cost is $20, which covers the meal.

Payment can be made on PayPal at www.brooksgoldmannpublishing.com. Payment will not be accepted at the door. Text questions to (480) 250-5556.

Members bringing guests should let Patricia L. Brooks know at the above number. Guests are allowed to visit twice before being asked to join. Monthly dues are $50.

The goals of the group are to:

• Value all the professional women writers sharing their ability.

• Honor all genres and all forms of professional writing.
• Attend monthly meetings to move the group and its members forward.
• Learn and share in the experiences of monthly professional speakers.
• Grow the group to a membership of active and contributing women.
• Encourage participation by members as mentors, and volunteers.
• Support and challenge each other to always be writing.
• Help members to stretch as writers and reach lofty personal goals.
