Scottsdale Unified School District will welcome next school year’s kindergartners --- members of the graduating Class of 2033 – and their parents at open house events during the week of Nov. 11-15.

Eighteen SUSD K-5 and K-8 schools will host parents and future kindergartners on their campuses. Kindergarten classrooms will be visited, school tours will be provided, and families will be able to meet kindergarten teachers and school principals, according to a press release.

Questions about enrollment, school lunch menus, school-day schedules, playground safety and the school nurse will be answered. Parents will also learn what basic skills most incoming kindergartners should have mastered by the time they report for their first day of school, in order to help their child prepare for next year.

“This is an opportunity for families to learn about our kindergarten programs and curriculum, and to find the school that best meets their child’s academic, social and emotional needs,” SUSD Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education Dr. Ibi Haghighat.

“It is just as important for moms and dads to feel comfortable with their children’s school environment as it is for the children.”

There will be another series of SUSD kindergarten open house events in January and March 2020. The 2020-2021 school year begins on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020.
