Scottsdale Quarter welcomes community with back-to-school events

From end-of-summer celebrations to school year preparations, Scottsdale Quarter’s back to school events can be a memorable experience for every guest, starting with a new addition to the annual events — The Chalk It Up wall.

Located on 73rd Place next to Beach Bunny Swimwear beginning Monday, July 12, the shopping center will create an interactive Chalk It Up wall for guests to share their favorite part of a new school year or a memory from a time when they were in school.

The community is invited to write what they look forward to, while also offering notes of appreciation to teachers, according to a press release, describing how starting a new school year can bring excitement, from reconnecting with friends to preparing for a year of learning new things.

Whether students and teachers are reentering the classroom for the first time, continuing to learn virtually, or have remained in-person throughout the past year, Scottsdale Quarter is providing the community with ways to celebrate the start of a new school year.

Through a selection of upcoming events, guests will be able to savor the last moments of summer and prepare for school in style, the release said.

“We are excited to prepare kids, families, and educators in the Scottsdale community for this coming school year,” said Richard Hunt, general manager at Scottsdale Quarter, in a prepared statement.

“This school year will be especially memorable as many students return to in-person learning, and at Scottsdale Quarter, we want to support guests and offer ways to celebrate the start of an exciting new year in the classroom.”

As teachers transition back into the classroom, Scottsdale Quarter will host a Teacher Appreciation Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at Kendra Scott. Educators can enjoy sips, sweets, giveaways, and a teacher discount at Kendra Scott, the release said, adding they will also receive a free swag bag filled with teacher essentials and special retailer offers with their ID.

Teachers can pre-register for the event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/teacher-appreciation-night-tickets-161821132363.

Children have the opportunity to celebrate going back to school from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, at MIXT with the KidX Club Back to School Party. Students can stop by the restaurant for a goodie bag filled with school essentials, make a school bus craft, and take a photo with their favorite magical teacher.

Pre-registration is required and is available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/back-to-school-party-tickets-161827401113.

To help local students and educators prepare for the upcoming year, Scottsdale Quarter’s School Supply Drive will be held July 12 -Aug. 1, added the release.

Guests can drop off a new school supplies at the donation center in The Quad during center hours. Those interested in helping but unable to donate school supplies, can also participate virtually by sponsoring a backpack filled with supplies for $35.

The School Supply Drive benefits Arizona Helping Hands, a charitable organization dedicated to helping children in foster care throughout Arizona, the release noted.
