Scottsdale police seek more information on alleged groping incidents

The Scottsdale Police Department requests the public’s help with information related to incidents involving a man recently arrested on charges of aggravated assault and criminal trespassing for reportedly inappropriately touching women.

A 26-year-old Phoenix resident, Christian Lee Stadler, allegedly admitted to an initial report of an assault that occurred on March 9, according to a police press release.

Scottsdale police detectives were made aware of a neighborhood “sharing application of an unknown male suspect groping female residents as they attempted to enter their apartments,” the release said, adding he also allegedly admitted to being the male in the original video shared on the neighborhood application.

As detectives investigated, other incidents  were discovered that matched the description, the release said, with most relaying incidents of being followed in their apartment complex by a male who grabbed or groped them while they attempted to enter the residence.

Conducting a surveillance detail on the night of March 9, and after midnight on March 10, detectives were alerted of an assault that had just happened in the area, the release said, noting  the reporting victim advised that a man followed her to her apartment and groped/grabbed her from behind as she attempted to enter her apartment.

Based on the description provided by the victim, detectives were able to stop someone as he was driving out of the complex, noted the release.

Scottsdale Police detectives reportedly believe that there is a high likelihood of additional incidents and victims related to Stadler’s activities, according to the release.

If you believe that you are a victim or have any information related to this case, contact the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000 in reference to SPD Report Number 21-07429.
