Scottsdale police involved in officer-involved shooting

Scottsdale police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in their city.
According to a release, officers responded to a disturbance after 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads.
Police said officers contacted a 61-year-old man at a home. During the interaction, the man allegedly pulled out a handgun. Police responded with one officer firing a single shot that did not strike the man. Police said the man also fired his gun, resulting in a self-inflicted wound. He was taken to a hospital where his condition was listed as critical but stable.
None of the officers were injured.
Police said the case is an attempted suicide incident, but due to the use of force by the officer in response to the man's actions, it is being investigated as an officer-involved shooting per department policy.
No charges have been submitted and the man remains unidentified.
