Scottsdale police arrest man for arson in Molotov cocktail cases

Posted

A 55-year-old man has been charged in connection with four incidents where Molotov cocktails were used to damage property this month in Scottsdale.

Bradley Stephen Holmes was arrested Jan. 27 for misconduct involving weapons, arson and endangerment, among others, for the multiple incidents, Scottsdale police said.

Detectives and investigators worked to find the suspect for more than three weeks following the first incident on Jan 7.

On Friday night, Jan. 27, “a subject matching the description from the other incidents was observed near 8200 block of Hayden placing devices similar to what was discovered previously,” police said.

“He was arrested without incident before he was able to continue this dangerous crime trend.”

The Scottsdale Police Department  on Thursday reported two more incidents of Molotov cocktails being used, including the second at the same location.

The latest incident occurred about 8 p.m. Jan. 21 in the parking lot of Campo Italian near 8200 N. Hayden Road, police said. No injuries or property damage were reported.

At about 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 17, minor damage was reported at Postino Highland, where a Molotov cocktail also was used on Jan. 14 and set a 2014 Tesla on fire.

There was minor damage reported to a parked car in the latest incident, police said.

The first in the string of Molotov cocktail criminal activity happened about 7:50 p.m. Jan. 7 near 8300 N. Hayden Road, damaging a 2018 Lexus RX350.
