Scottsdale Parada Del Sol seeks parade entries, festival vendors

Posted

With this year’s theme of “Western Legends,” the 67th Annual Scottsdale Parada del Sol Parade & Trail’s End Festival Committee “plans another fabulous 2020 Parada,” but needs volunteers, parade entries and festival vendors for the Saturday, Feb. 8 event.

Parada President Wendy Springborn said there are various opportunities for volunteers to donate some time in committees in the planning or assist the morning of the parade, according to a press release, noting that teams are needed to erect fencing and décor for the Trail’s End street festival around Old Town Scottsdale.

“For 67 years, the Scottsdale Parada del Sol volunteers have been coordinating the horse-drawn carriages, bands, wagons and stagecoaches, but due to the interest and growth, we need many more people or teams from companies to volunteer to help us get ready for 2020,” said Ms. Springborn in a prepared statement.

“Last year, we received many new entries and we feel the two-hour parade is now at capacity. Because of the increase in entries, we will be accepting 2020 entry applications on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is critical to fill out your application soon.”

The Parada Committee is accepting applications for bands, marching groups, cities/towns, mounted western groups, Tribes, dancing groups, commercial floats, horse riders/horse groups, western type vehicles and vendors for the festival, the release said.

If you are a leader of a band, organization, mounted horse group, or troop of marchers and would like to participate in the Parada del Sol Parade or Trail’s End Festival, go to scottsdaleparade.com to download the application.

Get your entry in as soon as possible, the release recommended.

The fees are: marching bands-free, nonprofits-$75, pre-1950 tractors/cars-$100 and commercial floats are $500.
