Windsor Smith, a Scottsdale native, born and raised in south Scottsdale, recently joined the Rocky Mountain Emmys’ Board of Governors.
The Rocky Mountain Emmys are a membership organization dedicated to excellence in television by honoring exceptional work through the prestigious Emmy Award. It is the only professional association representing television professionals from all disciplines of the industry, serving as the common meeting ground for individuals dedicated to advancing the art and science of television.
On this board, Smith will join a group of seven other broadcast journalists to work together to advocate for the best interests of all members.
“We are thrilled to welcome Windsor Smith to our Board of Governors,” Doug Mummert, president of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter, said in a written statement. “Each of our governors has a vast amount of talent and expertise, and we are excited for the growth and opportunities to come.”
Smith is currently the 5 p.m. news producer for a local television news station. Before working in Phoenix, she worked at KOAT in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She’s an Emmy recipient and a student production award recipient, according to a press release. She’s also an Edward R. Murrow winner and Broadcast Education Award winner.
“It’s such an honor to serve on this board,” Smith said in a written statement. “The Emmy program has been extremely beneficial to me and to many others in the media world. I’m so excited to help with our educational endeavors to help grow future journalists.”
Smith attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where she got her undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism, her master’s degree in communication and a certificate in special events management. She is also a graduate of the Barrett, the Honors College at ASU and recently won its alumni Early Achievement Award.
She serves as a mentor to students at the Walter Cronkite Schoo.
