Scottsdale Civil War Round Table hosts Eric Wittenberg

Eric Wittenberg is a historian expert and leading authority on Civil War cavalry operations.

On March 21 the Scottsdale Civil War Round Table will host noted Civil War historian Eric Wittenberg.
A prolific author, having written more than 20 books, Wittenberg will speak about Union cavalry operations at the Battle of Chickamauga.
Wittenberg is the leading authority on Civil War cavalry operations. His lecture is based on his 2018 monograph, “Holding the Line on the River of Death: Union Mounted Forces at Chickamauga, September 18, 1863.”
A native of Pennsylvania, Wittenberg earned his bachelor’s degree at Dickinson College in Carlisle. He subsequently received a juris doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
In addition to practicing law in Columbus, Ohio and writing books and articles, Wittenberg leads battlefield tours and is the program chairman of the Chambersburg Civil War Seminars program.
Wittenberg’s lecture will begin at 5 p.m. in the Copper Auditorium located on the lower level of the Civic Center branch of the Scottsdale Public Library, 3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd. Doors open at 4 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend the monthly meetings of the Scottsdale Civil War Round Table free of charge. Come early to meet the author, members, guests and browse the books.
