Scottsdale cancels Mighty Mud Mania due to COVID-19, budget restrictions

Scottsdale has announced that annual summer activities Mighty Mud Mania and McCormick Stillman Railroad Park Summer Concerts will not be happening as planned due to COVID-19.

Mighty Mud Mania has been canceled, while McCormick Stillman Railroad Park Summer Concerts are postponed, according to the city’s website.

The City of Scottsdale has continued to monitor the COVID-19 virus while adhering to agency guidance from both federal and state levels of government.

The uncertainty of the current environment, along with some current budget restrictions, has lead to the very difficult decision to cancel the June 6 Mighty Mud Mania event, and postpone the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park’s annual Summer Concert Series.

This year would have marked the 45th annual Mighty Mud Mania, a staple summer event in Scottsdale. City staff are saddened to not offer this event, loved by generations; however they are looking forward to some good, clean, muddy fun for all at a future date.

October will mark the 45th anniversary of Scottsdale’s McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, so the excitement was high to celebrate with another year of incredible summer concerts.

There is tentative planning taking place to present a concert series at a later date; should it be appropriate.

“While these cancellations are disappointing, they are temporary,” Communications Supervisor Ann Porter stated on ScottsdaleAZ.gov.

“Scottsdale values its community events and is looking to the future to offer opportunities for the public to gather together again, safely. Updates on all developments can be found on the city’s website. As always, thank you for your 45 years of support. We look forward to making memories with you again.”
