Royse Contemporary will present “When You’re Here,” a solo exhibition of artist Gennaro Garcia, whose multi-media collection highlights his distinct style and  voice.

Mr. Garcia’s latest body of work includes paintings, monosilk prints, and sculptures, showcasing world-class skill combining Italian techniques working with oils, acrylics, plaster, melded with the vibrant Mexican color palette of his childhood, according to a press release.

His passion, as an artist is to create art in every single technique, style, color, texture, always creating and evolving within his art while infusing his work with familiar imagery and subjects inspired by his identities as Mexican and American and from a Latino immigrant perspective.

“Art is addictive and therapeutic, it is the best way to communicate the way I feel, think, love,” said Mr. Garcia in a prepared statement.

A native of San Luis, Sonora, Mexico, migrating to Arizona in his early 20s with “drive, passion and the desire to create art,” Mr. Garcia’s work is featured in numerous galleries and private collections in the U.S. and Mexico.

He has exhibited his artwork in more than 80 exhibitions in the last five years and has been featured in numerous local and national publications, the release noted.

Mr. Garcia is the resident artist at Xico Inc.- Latin & Native American Arts Organization and the co-founder of the Calle 16 Mural Project.  He is the recipient of the Masters of the Southwest Award, a recognition presented by the Phoenix Home & Garden, the release said.

In 2018, he partnered with Aaron Chamberlin opening Taco Chelo in downtown Phoenix, highlighting the traditions of Mexican food and his artwork.

He has handled the interior design of more than a dozen restaurants, featuring his art and furniture design including Tempe Public Market, Ghost Ranch and Taco Chelo.

“When You’re Here” will open to the public on Thursday, Jan. 16, with a special artist reception from 6-10 p.m., coinciding with this year’s “Demonstrate & Donuts” Gold Palette Scottsdale ArtWalk, plus an opportunity to meet the featured artist and curator, along with light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

“When You’re Here” will be on display at Royse Contemporary from Jan. 16 through Feb. 9 at Royse Contemporary, 7077 E. Main Street, Suite 6 in the Scottsdale Arts District in the Marshall Square complex.
