The Scottsdale Rotary Club has sponsored and spearheaded the proposed new Club Rotario De Phoenix.

The proposed club, based in Phoenix, awaits Rotary International’s Club charter approval, according to a press release, noting that Rotarian Max Rumbaugh, of The Rotary Club of Scottsdale, introduced the potential charter members.

Potential members were introduced to RCS members and guests at a recent reception luncheon, hosted by the Scottsdale Rotary Club, for The Honorable Jorge Mendoza Yescas - The Consul General of Mexico in Phoenix.

Club Rotario De Phoenix’s Provisional Club President, Irayda Flores updated RCS members and guests on the progress of the proposed club’s formation at the RCS luncheon meeting.

The group’s initial meeting held Dec. 11, 2019, was hosted by Enrique Franco - Sonora State Representative to Arizona at the State Capital, noted the release.

During the group’s first three meetings, money has already been raised for future youth scholarships and community and international projects, said the release.

The group, consisting of Hispanic and other nationalities with a wide range of club service interests, plans to focus on expanding the involvement of Valley international business and professional leaders in Rotary.

Ms. Flores and the group of business professionals represent a broad range of professions,  detailed the release, adding that she acknowledged the privilege of being associated with Rotary International.

She described the organization with members solving real problems through service to others, promoting integrity, and advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace through his/her fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

In closing, Ms. Flores stated that she looks forward to Club Rotario De Phoenix members joining together to make a difference through active commitment and service in the community, locally and internationally.

And, for the club to be something where neighbors, friends can problem-solve, share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change, added the release.

Meanwhile, the provisional officers of Club Rotario De Phoenix include: Irayda Flores - President; Rene Bermudez - Vice President; Luis Ortega - Secretary; and, Carolos Velasco - Treasurer.

Rotary Club of Scottsdale members, Max Rumbaugh and Dale Gray have assisted with the proposed club’s organizational activities, the release noted.

Bret McKeand - RI District 5495 Governor Nominee; Larry Horton, Michelle Holcomb and Patrick Walsh - RI Assistant Governors District 5495 and Angel Aguirre - RI District New Club Development Officer have also been instrumental in the Proposed Club’s formation.

Rotary International is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers envisioning “a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves,” said the release.

For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects from literacy and peace to water and health to improve the world, according to the release.
