'Rock ‘n’ Roll' marathon to run through Scottsdale

City warns residents of expected street closures

Traffic restrictions and road closures on several major Scottsdale streets will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 for the Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon.

Drivers are strongly encouraged to use the freeway system to avoid the marathon routes.   

The major street restrictions and closures include: 

  • Indian School Road eastbound between 48th Street and 64th Street 
  • Hayden Road southbound between McKellips and McDowell roads  
  • McDowell Road eastbound between 52nd Street and Hayden Road 
  • Scottsdale Road northbound at McDowell Road (with limited local access provided) 
  • Scottsdale Road southbound at Thomas Road (with limited local access provided) 
  • Thomas Road between Scottsdale Road to 64th Street (with limited local access provided) 
  • Miller Road northbound at McDowell Road 
  • Oak Street westbound at Scottsdale Road 
  • 64th Street southbound between Indian School Road and McDowell Road

Residents and businesses located near the course are encouraged to plan ahead and be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes. On race day, both before and during the race, traffic is not allowed to cross the race route, so plan accordingly.
