Purvis Gallu: Christine Marsh is what leadership looks like

Posted

When I received my ballot, I couldn’t wait to vote once again for Senator Christine Marsh. She is the leader our community deserves.

I know that we can count on Senator Marsh to stand up for our shared values, whether it’s supporting strong schools or keeping our community healthy. Our education system is ranked 51st in the nation. Senator Marsh has worked every single day to improve our schools and make sure that our students receive the education they deserve. She has sponsored legislation to reduce class sizes, bring back full day kindergarten, and ensure our schools are able to spend the money they are allocated.

I also know that we can count on Senator Marsh to stand up for our shared values even if it means voting against her own party. She was one of only a handful of Democrats to vote for tougher penalties for people convicted of crimes against children. She also was one of the only Democrats to vote to send more resources to support law enforcement on the southern border.

And Senator Marsh has been a leader on making our communities safer from fentanyl. In the face of a Republican majority, Senator Marsh was able to usher through both chambers of the legislature a bill to legalize fentanyl testing strips.

That’s what leadership looks like. That must be why so many of Senator Marsh’s former students and parents support her campaign. She’s a role model we can all look up to.
