Police: Woman succumbs to burn injuries sustained during drug overdose

The Scottsdale Police Department has recommended manslaughter charges for Gary Rundle, after he poured hot water on a woman who overdosed on heroin.
At approximately 1:23 p.m. on Feb. 3, Scottsdale police officers responded to a reported overdose at 808 N. 82nd St.
During the incident investigation, it was learned that Rundle, 63, had provided the victim, Cassandra Love, 37, with one-third of a gram of heroin, police officials say.
After using the drug, Love lost consciousness. Rundle, who was extremely intoxicated, police say, then poured multiple pans of hot water onto Love in what he stated as an attempt to revive her.
Love was transported to an area hospital in serious condition with severe burns over most of her body as a result of the hot water.
Rundle was arrested and originally held on one court of aggravated assault, before the police department recommended manslaughter charges.
On Feb. 9, the victim died at the hospital as a result of her burn injuries.
