Nationwide effort aims to remember deceased veterans
Posted
On Dec. 18, Scottsdale-based Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery was among the nationwide effort to lay wreaths on veteran headstones.
Wreaths Across America Day is a nationwide effort where volunteers place remembrance wreathes on the headstones of veterans — at Green Acres, the event included 1,545 veteran headstones.
As each wreath is placed, the veterans name was read aloud to ensure the individual who served in the U.S. armed forces is not forgotten, according to a press release.
Green Acres worked with Exchange Club of Scottsdale and Tempe to raise the funds to purchase wreaths for each veteran’s grave.
