Windom Security Strategies Today, an Arizona-based private security company, partnered with Scottsdale Community College to launch the Veterans Pathway to Law Enforcement program, a one-year program made up of five classes taught by former law enforcement professionals employed by SCC.

The veterans-only program will be available to students beginning in January 2022.

"As Windom Security continues to push forward in our pursuit to become Arizona’s first law enforcement farm system it has been an absolute honor to work with Scottsdale Community College developing the pathway to law enforcement work and learn program,” Dylan Vicha, CEO of Windom Security, stated in the release.

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded a certificate of completion in law enforcement, and students will be equipped to earn high private security wages in the state after learning from local retired law enforcement professionals.

“I have dedicated most of my adult life to supporting veterans and law enforcement so this is a dream come true to be involved in a program that will help veterans prepare and discover their future careers," Vicha stated.

This program is the latest in a series of initiatives from Windom Security Strategies Today aimed to support local law enforcement and veterans, as the company is committed to helping develop the next generation of law enforcement officers through its job fairs, on the job training and close relationships with local police departments and sheriff’s departments.

“Scottsdale Community College is pleased to collaborate with Windom Security on a pathway for veterans seeking a career in law enforcement,” Chris Haines, SCC president, stated in the release. “Utilizing a work and learn model, participants have the opportunity to work for Windom Security while simultaneously pursuing a Certificate of Completion in Law Enforcement from SCC.”

The program includes five courses including an intro to criminal justice, ethics and the administration of justice, effective communication and report writing in criminal justice, the police function and criminal investigation.

Participants will work for veteran-led Windom Security while fulfilling these class requirements at SCC.

“This nine-month experience of work and educational training sets a student up to be more competitive as they move ahead toward a career in law enforcement," Haines stated. Windom Security’s dedication to supporting our veteran population complements SCC’s vision and mission to support learners achieve their lifelong educational, professional, and personal goals.”
